Unlike most other internet based Absinthe shops, our Absinthe contains the original levels of the psychoactive ingredient thujone. It is thujone that produces the celebrated “absinthe effects”.

Our Zèle Premium is the only Absinthe that contains the original historic level of 111mg of thujone and the only Absinthe capable of producing the Absinthe effects.

We produce all our absinthe (except French) in the Czech republic because the liquor laws of the Czech Republic do not limit thujone content levels of commercial absinthe. This allows us to offer the same Napoleonic absinthe formulations with the same pre-ban thujone contents (up to 111mg) where most other countries are limited to 10mg of thujone.

Our Zele Premium has the original thujone levels that inspired some of the greatest creative geniuses of the 18th and 19th century. Such notables include Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, and the ever infamous, Oscar Wilde.

Is Absinthe Legal?

In the United States, Absinthe is not a controlled substance but its sale in bars and liquor stores is banned. Absinthe is still however legal to purchase and possess in the United States. In most of the European Union, Absinthe may be sold as long as it stays at 10mg of thujone. In Canada, Absinthe is completely legal, and on sale in some liquor stores.
